Rep. Pete Sessions Becomes 120th Co-Sponsor of H.R. 997

July 21, 2009

Representative Pete Sessions today became the newest co-sponsor of legislation to make English the official language of the United States, increasing the number of supporters to 120. The seven-term representative from the 32nd Congressional District of Texas joins lead sponsor Steve King and a bi-partisan list of legislators from 36 states in supporting the English Language Unity Act.

Rep. Sessions was a co-sponsor of legislation to make English the official language in each of his two previous Congressional terms. His efforts to unify all Americans through the common bond of the English language earned him an “A in English” award from U.S. English in May 2008.
