Rep. Camp Increases H.R. 997 Co-Sponsor Total to 127.

September 17, 2009

Representative Dave Camp became the 127th co-sponsor of H.R. 997 yesterday, marking the seventh member of Congress joining the effort to make English the official language since Congress returned from recess two weeks ago. The 10th term representative from Michigan’s Fourth Congressional District was also a co-sponsor of official English legislation in the 108th, 109th and 110th Congresses. Furthermore, Rep. Camp voted to make English the official language of the United States when legislation came to the floor in 1996.

Rep. Camp is the fifth member of the Michigan delegation to become a co-sponsor of H.R. 997 this Congress, joining Rep. Pete Hoekstra, Rep. Thaddeus McCotter, Rep. Mike Rogers and Rep. Fred Upton.

To date, 127 members of Congress from 36 states are co-sponsors of H.R. 997. To ask your representative to support the bill, please visit our online petition. To thank Rep. Camp and the other 126 representatives who have co-sponsored the bill, visit our member center.
